My debut album as an independent artist, I decided to name ‘From my soul, to yours’ : a classic jazz and blues album with a hint of 90s Gospel. I completely poured my heart out into every song. My dad brought me up listening to all kinds of jazz and blues music, so these genres have a real sense of comfort and nostalgia to me which I wanted to convey in the music for you too. Combined with vulnerable, powerful lyrics about how I overcame my journey with depression and learning to embrace my own company which I hope can make you feel a little less alone with your own struggles in life, we all have them but I believe music brings us together. My album is about healing from past traumas and deciding to find the light in the darkness, no matter how many obstacles are thrown at me.
If it’s not obvious already, all of those elements are why I named the album ‘From my soul, to yours’ , as this music grew from my personal experiences which I now hand over to you. In order to share what I've learnt with you, even if just one person listens to a song and relates, I know I've been successful as an artist. With no record label or promoters people may think i’m crazy for releasing an album, but music is about passion to me, not about fame or fortune and if i am passionate about anything in this life, it is music. So from my soul, to yours I hope you can really take a sense of comfort and hope from my album.
